Gallons of love

Gallons of love

A few weeks back we told you about some of the harmful impurities that Soma filters out of your water in order to make it safer for drinking. We told you about how we are repeatedly reminded that access to clean drinking water is often something we take for granted. We also told you that Soma is committed to working towards the goal of ensuring that all communities throughout the world have access to clean drinking water. And we told you that we have partnered with Charity: water to make that happen. Today we’d like to tell you how we plan to do it by telling you about charity: water and what they are all about.

charity: water invests in existing organizations worldwide that already have the infrastructure and experience to build sustainable, community-owned water projects. These organizations use different solutions (e.g. hand-dug wells, drilled wells, rainwater catchments, gravity-fed systems, pipe systems, water-purification systems, biofilters, and spring protections) because in each area water sources, terrain, and population are different. They hold these organizations to the highest standards in transparency and accountability, ensuring every dollar goes directly into projects (and they release their financials online so you as a donor can see what happens with your money!). Since their founding in 2006, Charity: Water has funded 44,007 projects bringing clean water to more than ten million people in 27 countries across Africa, Asia, Central and South America. You can learn more about specific projects, their upcoming goals, and much more on the charity: water website.

Every time you purchase a Soma product, we donate to these charity: water projects. Your contributions go directly to sustainable, community-owned water projects in these developing countries.

Because of you and your donations, thousands of people now have access to clean water through projects funded by our Soma community!
