H2Oh-no!

H2Oh-no!

Halloween is right around the corner so we’re currently into all things spooky. One of the scariest things? What’s in your water. Make your life a lot less scary by learning what Soma filters out!

In all seriousness, we sometimes take for granted our access to drinking water. In the United States, we are generally lucky that we have access to clean and safe drinking water. Recent events in Newark, New Jersey, and the crisis in Flint, Michigan, though, remind us how precious that access is. Still, according to the Natural Resource Defense Council, nearly 77 million Americans got their drinking water from systems that violated federal protections in 2015. You can find out about your city’s water by visiting the Environmental Protection Agency’s website and looking up where you live.

We at Soma work hard to make up a bit of the difference for you. To filter your water and keep it clean and safe so that you can know that the water you have in your home, the water you drink, the water you give to your guests or your family is safe. We filter for Cadmium, Chlorine, Copper, Mercury, and Zinc. The short-term health consequences of some of the aforementioned include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle cramp, sensory disturbances, liver injury, convulsions, shock and renal failure. Long-term effects can be as bad as kidney, liver, bone, and blood damage. Our filters are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation’s Standards 42 and 53 to ensure that these contaminants are kept out.

We also leave in the good stuff, like trace fluoride (which the ADA says we need to keep our teeth healthy!). And we filter for taste and odor too, because water should be delicious.

Having access to clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental human right, which is why we partner with Charity: Water. To work towards the goal of bringing clean and safe drinking water to every person on the planet. Join us on our mission -- for yourself and your fellow humans!
