Interview With A...

Football season is back, the US Open has been all anyone’s been able to talk about at work, and baseball is sticking around for a few more weeks -- we’re declaring this month, Sporty September.

Soma loves being a part of the health and wellness world and recently shared the gift of water with some of their favorite athletes, trainers, and yogis. Since we’re always trying to up our wellness game, we wanted to see how they’re staying hydrated and living the Soma lifestyle every day.

First up…

Meet Grace, Full-Time Yogi

What’s your trick to make sure you’re staying hydrated?
I always keep my 17 oz. Soma Bottle by my side, no matter where I am or what I’m doing! That way, I remember to drink throughout the day/night.

What’s a day in your life look like?
Wake up, coffee in bed while scrolling/catching up on social media/texts/emails, an afternoon hot yoga class followed by a long walk home, lunch with friends, some light reading before dinner, and a good HBO series before bed (accompanied by a glass of wine and a relaxing candle.)

When did you know you wanted to do this full time?
When I was 22 and quit my corporate job! An office job didn’t suit me (pun intended!) because I don’t thrive in a 9-5 setting. I like making my own hours/rules and setting my own goals. Also, as a fitness influencer, I get to wear yoga pants all day long!

How do you motivate yourself in the AM?

I usually throw a vinyl onto my record player to get me going. I just ordered BSB’s “Millennium” and Spice Girls “Greatest Hits” vinyls off Amazon! I love 90’s music.

Do you have a routine?

I try to ground myself with a daily goal, instead of a routine. My daily goal varies depending on the day of the week / the season! For instance, in the Fall, I like to get 10,000 steps in per day, because it forces me to get out of my apartment and see the pretty colors of the leaves! In the Summer, I like to try to get one HIIT class in per week, despite the heat! On weekends, my goal is to get one day of yoga in. I tend to avoid yoga studios during their busy hours (nights/weekends) so instead of visiting the studio, I’ll take a class on my JETSWEAT app.

Are you an iced coffee or hot coffee person?

Hot! All year-round. My go-to is Sarabeth’s Chocolate Crème. It’s highly addictive and keeps me nice and cozy in my Soma Ceramic Mug.

Sparkling water or still?

Sparkling!! My soda stream is my BFF. At home, I often drink sparkling water from a wine glass, because it distributes the bubbles evenly!!

What’s your bedtime routine?

Crank up the AC, dim the lights, light a great candle (NEST is my favorite brand) and throw on some Neflix.

Meet Rob, Certified Trainer, Nutrition Coach, Dog Dad

How do you motivate yourself in the AM to get up and get going? Do you have a typical morning routine?

Yes! Every morning, I jump right in the shower (sometimes a “cold-ish” one if I can’t wake up), drink a full 17 oz. Soma Bottle of water, walk my dog and then enjoy a shake I made the night before.

What’s a day in your life look like?

  • Wake up at 4:30am.
  • Train clients in-person from 9am - 1pm.
  • Eat lunch and take phone calls/program with my online clients.
  • Workout at 3pm.
  • Take some more calls/program with online clients.
  • Eat dinner around 630-7pm.
  • Prep my morning shake and lunch for tomorrow.
  • Watch TV, meditate and then go to bed as early as possible :)

Are you an iced coffee or hot coffee person?

Hot coffee all the way! All black Soma Ceramic Mug is my go-to.

What’s your trick to make sure you’re staying hydrated?

Every morning, I drink a full bottle of water right when I wake up. Then, I refill my Soma bottle non-stop while training and working out. Staying hydrated is crucial for energy, focus and stamina throughout the day (especially when it’s super hot out).

Sparkling water or still?

Still but I love sparkling water with meals.

When did you know you wanted to do this full time?

After making a huge lifestyle/fitness transformation after college, I knew I wanted to help others do this for the rest of my life.

What’s your bedtime routine?

Before I jump in bed, I make sure my room is ice cold, quiet and pitch black. Then, I meditate and read a little before going to sleep. Also, I try to not watch tv or look at my phone an hour before.

What’s your favorite Soma product?

I absolutely love the 25 oz glass water bottle. It holds a ton of water and is easy to carry around the gym all day. It’s also extremely durable!

Meet Andrew, Professional Hockey Player and World Traveler

What’s your trick to make sure you’re staying hydrated?

Always carrying my 25 oz. Soma Bottle with extra ice. I read somewhere that the best way to hydrate is to take a big gulp every 10-15 minutes instead of chugging a lot all at once, true or not, I go with that approach.

What’s a day in your life look like?

Depends on what city/country I am in. But a delicious breakfast is a must, practice/training, and in the afternoon either a nap or art gallery depending on energy levels. Evenings usually dinner with friends, and in a perfect world go to a basketball game.

When did you know you wanted to do this full time?

Always a dream, but sophomore year of high school (I was pretty tiny then haha) I really loved playing the game and at that point new I could be successful.

How do you motivate yourself in the AM?

I've always been fairly naturally driven, but after a coffee or two I’m good to go. The Soma Brew Bottle is clutch when living out of hotels.

Do you have a routine?

Not particularly. I know my body pretty well so I focus on enough water, food, and sleep, and as long as I have that set, I don’t need to be regimented or anything.

Are you an iced coffee or hot coffee person?

Iced when it’s warm, hot when it’s cold duh.

Sparkling water or still?

I’m in the #NeverSparkling camp

What’s your bedtime routine?

I like to get ready for bed an hour or so before I want to go to sleep so I can read and mentally calm down.
