#mondaymotivation

Happy April! Summer is just around the corner so it’s time to set and kickstart your summer routine. The days are getting longer and we want you to get the most out of it that you can -- embrace those early mornings! We’re hooking the Soma crew up with some simple hacks to jump-start your week.

1. Set a sleep routine & STICK TO IT

Whether you’re an early bird, a night owl, or some confused, sleep deprived pigeon, it’s always important to have a routine. Unlike skipping leg day or cheating on your diet, missing out on a few hours of sleep here and there will always catch up to you.

The most important thing you can do is get a solid 8 hours of sleep each night. We know a solid nights sleep can be tough so the best way to ensure you get the most out of your REM cycle is to prepare your body hours ahead of hitting the hay. If your goal is to head to bed around 10 pm, make your 3 pm coffee your last bit of caffeine. Quit snacking around 7 pm and (the hardest part of all) give your electronics a break around 9 pm.

2. Prep the day before

Just physically getting out of bed can be overwhelming when you have a huge amount of to-do’s to tackle in the coming hours. The best way to get over this hurdle is to create a to-do list the night before. What’s the most pressing? What can wait for later tonight? What can I get through in the morning when I’m my sharpest? Prioritizing each task will make them a whole less daunting. Plus, who doesn’t love dramatically crossing things of a to-do list?

3. Drink water

It’s weird to imagine not having a drop of water for 8 hours, but when you’re asleep, that’s exactly what’s happening. The longer you sleep, the more your body dehydrates. Drinking 17 oz of water in the morning (1 Soma bottle!) helps fire up your metabolism and helps your body flush out toxins first thing in the morning. Your brain is 75% water so when you’re dehydrated, so is your brain! Getting your brain properly hydrated means your brain will operate to the best of it’s ability -- so you’ll be able to crush work, tests, workouts, and your day.

4. Work in some type of exercise every day

We all know that exercise has a lot of benefits for your physical and mental health, but did you know it’s especially effective in the morning? If you want to be more productive and embrace your #mondaymotivation, exercising in the morning is an energy boost and brings your endorphins way up. Whether you’re crushing Barry’s Bootcamp, taking a walk with your morning coffee, or jogging around the block with your dog -- you’ll be more awake and ready to take on your day. Plus, getting in some exercise minutes in the morning helps you sleep sounder at night. Win-win.
