Let's Spice Things Up

Let's Spice Things Up

It’s that time of year again. The weather has finally changed (goodbye sweltering heat!) -- the air is crisp and cool while the sunshine keeps us warm -- and we’re ready for some fall beverage action. Fall is, after all, the season of the pumpkin.

There’s nothing like a DIY pumpkin spice latte. If you want to go farm to table, then you’re picking the pumpkin at your local pumpkin patch, roasting it with olive oil and salt, and making your own puree. But for some of us, the pumpkin patch isn’t really our scene so a can of pumpkin puree will do just fine.

Combine one tablespoon of pumpkin puree and one cup of milk in a small saucepan with ½-1 tablespoons of sugar (we all have our own sweetness scale!). Let it heat up without boiling and remove it from the stovetop then whiskin ½ teaspoon vanilla extract and ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (which is really just a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves). Make yourself half a pour-over coffee with your Soma Brew Bottle and then add the pumpkin/milk mixture to your coffee and whisk it together. Drink right from the Brew Bottle or pour it into your Ceramic Mug and top it off with some whipped cream.

Or, if that’s too much work (and on weekdays, it really is) how about a spiced coffee sans pumpkin? Just add ¼ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice to your Brew Bottle before you pour over your hot water.

And because we love pumpkin (and we hope you do too!) just a small tip when you’re drinking that delicious pumpkin beer that makes its debut this time of year. Make yourself a small cinnamon/sugar mixture for the rim of your beer mugs. It’s festive and delicious!

Cheers!!
