It can be tough to stay on top of the things we want to do when we’re balancing others and trying to keep our sanity. For example, we want to eat healthier but we’re so tired at the end of the day that ordering takeout is just easier. Or we want to exercise more but sometimes we dread it and we’re just so tired. Or we want to get a good night’s sleep but bingeing a cliffhanger show always seems to win out. Here’s the thing: all of that is okay in moderation.

We don’t know about you, but we’ve been avoiding the phrase “the new normal.” “The temporary normal” seems a better reminder that this is not forever. Still, whatever you’re calling it, we’re now well into the global pandemic and we’ve got a long road ahead. Despite our inactive social lives (anyone else Zoom-ed out?) we are not getting enough good sleep—the stress is real. While we can’t fix the stress for you, we can help you improve your sleep another way: hydration.

According to research out of the Institute of Medicine’s Food and Nutrition Board, the general recommendation for daily water intake is 11 glasses for women (2.7 liters or 91 ounces) and 15 glasses for men (3.7 liters or 125 ounces). Sound like a lot? Fear not, there are several smart ways to meet your daily hydration requirement. And yes, there’s even an app for that.

The weather is warmer, the sun is shining, and our skin is – still thirsty. Crazy, huh? Most of us are diligent through the winter months (when the air is too clearly dry) about our water intake, putting our humidifiers to good use, and applying serums that go deep into our skin to keep it impeccably hydrated.
